The park was formally established as the Burnham Park Reservation in 1925. Its administration and maintenance were eventually transferred to the City Government of Baguio, with full control and further development devolved to the city under Executive Order No. 695.

🚣 Things to Do

1. Boating at Burnham Lake
The artificial lake is one of the park's most recognizable attractions. Burnham Lake reopened for boating on September 1, 2026, following an approximately 11-month rehabilitation project.

2. 🚲 Biking
Visitors can rent bicycles and ride around designated areas of the park. It is particularly popular with families and children.

3. 🌳 Walking and Relaxing
The park provides open green areas, trees, gardens and walking areas where visitors can relax away from the busy downtown streets.

4. 🌹 Gardens and Recreation Areas
Burnham Park contains several recreational zones, including areas associated with gardens, children's activities and other public facilities.

The park is also used for public activities and cultural events. For example, an Art Jamming in the Park activity was held at the Children's Park in February 2026.

It also played an important role following the July 16, 1990 Luzon earthquake, when portions of Burnham Park were used as a temporary "tent city" for people affected by the disaster.

🌿 Recent Rehabilitation

An important recent development is the rehabilitation of Burnham Lake. The first phase was completed in 2026, with the project costing about ₱150 million. Additional development planned for Phase 2 includes improvements to the children's playground and rose garden.
